My Bucket List

Last summer I was able to tick off one item on my bucket list…running walking a marathon with babies and a jogging stroller that decided that morning it was time for a twisted wheel.

The marathon experience wasn’t quite how I envisioned it, but I was determined not to put it off but just to do it!!. I felt very accomplished after. I felt the push to do it again as well. There were even persons in wheelchairs participating and seeing that really motivated me to say “no more excuses”. There may never be the ideal situation in life but that should not stop us from pursuing our goals or dreams.

So what’s on your bucket list?

A bucket list is simply a list of things you always wanted to do. Some definitions say a list of things you always wanted to do before you die.

What stops us from doing these things? Fear, waiting on the right time or finances…the list can be endless. The left side of our brain insists the situation should be logical and well planned and thought out, of course, that is good. But the left side of our brain rarely supports taking that leap of faith, stepping into the unknown. The right side of our brain helps with being creative and taking that plunge to do that activity we may fear. Of course, we do seek a balance between using both our left and right sides of the brain.

At times we focus on our past experiences which have left us hurt and struggling with pain. For sure there is healing available you can get past your past. It does take strength and courage but it is so worth it and it also prepares the way for others to be encouraged and strengthened too. Healing from abuse self-care guide

So what if today you started to write or even revisit your bucket list? Various studies indicate that when we write out our goals they make us more accountable and more likely to pursue them.

Challenge yourself today to see each life season as a new one with the opportunity to pursue your goals and dreams and to forgive and heal as well as needed.

As we transition from spring to summer, we are reminded of the beauty of growth, the rainbow of colours will see and the endless possibilities that exist in life!!
